Leave No Trace

WILLIAM HESSEL LIBRARY - FOOD & DRINK GUIDELINES

Our “leave no trace” policy refers to the privilege to have food and drink in the library. We depend upon users to be responsible and keep library resources, equipment, and furnishings in good condition.

Additional guidelines are as follows:

  • Snacks, small meals, and beverages are allowed in most areas* of the library. Beverages must be in a container with a lid.

    • *Areas where NO food is allowed include book stacks, archives, and near printer/copier machines.

  • Clean up after yourself and properly dispose of all food, trash, and recycling in appropriate receptacles.

  • If assistance is needed to clean up spills, request help from staff at the Circulation Desk on the first floor.

  • Deliveries of food to the library are not permitted, with exceptions for scheduled, catered events approved by the College Librarian.

  • Alcohol is not allowed.

  • Unattended food or beverages may be disposed of by staff.
